The Bolo Stick installs in 5 minutes with basic tools. No contractors and no special equipment.

Door Barricade in 4 Steps
From package to protection in under 5 minutes.
Position the Safety Block
On the inside of the closed door, center the steel safety block under the handle, near the bottom of the door and level with the floor. The guide in the kit gives the exact height for your door. Mark the two screw holes.
Fasten the Block to the Door
Drill the marked holes and fasten the block with the screws in the kit. On the commercial model, the security screws go all the way through the door from the outside and thread into the block.
Drill the Floor Hole
Close the door and set the pin in the block. Tap the pin lightly with a hammer to mark the floor. Open the door and drill a 7/8 inch hole, 1 1/2 inches deep, on the mark. Clean out the dust.
Set the Anchor & Test
Put the steel floor anchor in the hole. Close the door and drop the pin through the block into the anchor. The pin must slide in and out freely. Your door is now barricade-ready.
Tools You'll Need
- Power drill
- 7/8 inch drill bit for the floor hole
- Hammer, to mark the floor
- Pencil for marking
- Safety glasses (recommended)
Installation Tips
Concrete or Tile Floors
Use a 7/8 inch masonry bit for the floor hole in concrete, tile, or stone. Drill carefully to avoid cracking tile.
Wood Floors
Drill the 7/8 inch hole 1 1/2 inches deep and clear out the shavings before you set the floor anchor.
Outswing Doors
Outward-swinging doors install the same way as inward-swinging doors: on the interior side of the door. The same Bolo Stick fits both.
Sliding Patio Door Stopper Installation
The patio stopper installs differently from the barricade. It needs one small hole, not the 7/8 inch floor hole above. You need a drill and a 5/16 inch bit. A standard bit works for most installs.
Close the Door
Close the sliding door all the way. Work from inside the house.
Set the Pin on the Inside Track
Stand the pin on the track right beside the closed door. Use the inside rail: on the outside rail, someone breaking in can pull the pin out.
Leave a 1/16 Inch Gap
Center the pin on the track with its flange close to the door frame but not touching it, about 1/16 inch away. Measure this gap carefully. Getting it wrong is the most common install mistake.
Mark the Spot
Mark the track where the pin sits.
Drill One Hole
Center a 5/16 inch bit on the mark and drill through the track into the floor. Make the hole as deep as the part of the pin below the flange.
Clean Out and Drop the Pin In
Clear the debris from the hole and the track. Drop the pin in so the flange rests flush on the track.
